The Director – General of the Consolidation of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council, Felix Obuah has called on the people of the state to rally support for the PDP saying that,”the business of managing Rivers State is too serious to be left in the hands of the inexperienced .
Obuah said in view of the several landmark achievements of the incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike,that what is required is for the people to support the party in the coming elections to consolidate on the achievements of the Wike administration
Addressing a Press Briefing at the PDP Campaign Office in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Obuah said that the PDP has priotised the well being of the people of the state adding that the press briefing which is first since the council was inaugurated” is evidenced of the high esteem” the party had for the Press and proof of its” resolve to engage critical stakeholders”.
While appreciating the Mass Media for their commitment’ to the promotion of popular understanding, and the protection of the peace and stability in Rivers State, Obuah told the journalists that the upcoming official take – off of the campaign and the need “to provide the press with a clear insight “prompted the press briefing.
According to him,” The highpoint of the rally which is billed to take place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Saturday,19th November,2022 would be the grand unveiling of the PDP’S gubernatorial flag bearer,Sir Siminialayi Fubara
” The unveiling ceremony will be performed by the G8 Governors who are at the center of a fight designed to promote inclusiveness.
” While in Port Harcourt, the State Governor who is the Chief Host will treat our friends,elders and leaders to a State Banquet. The banquet will be held on Friday,18th November,2022.
” Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oho State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, the host Governor and leader of the G5, Governor Nyesom Wike will grace the occasion.”
Obuah lauded the G5 governors for being the ‘ soul and conscience” of the PDP saying that their decision to remain in the party and” pursue peaceful options despite obstacles placed on the way has further endeared them to the Nigerian people
He expressed happiness ” that these great patriots who believe in one Nigeria will participate in activities marking the flag off of our campaign effort in Rivers State adding that the PDP is ready to win the 2023 gubernatorial and Assembly elections in the state.
Obuah thanked the people of the state for believing in the PDP and asked for a fresh mandate given to it and assured that ” It would” through the special grace of God, strive to build astutely on a legacy of hard work, strong leadership and rapid transformation established by the Wike administration.
” We are prepared, with the support of the good people of Rivers State who continue to back the PDP and our dynamic leader, Governor Nyesom Wike to ask for a fresh mandate of four years.
” We believe that the fresh mandate shall strengthen a shared vision of great prosperity and progress,And ensure the consolidation of the new Rivers vision which has given birth to an evolving era of great enduring works,great transformation and resounding achievements.
” We do have a resilient political party that is focused and determined. We have an exceptional Government that has raised the bar of performance. Our government ably led by Governor Nyesom Wike has delivered and continues to deliver on its promises to the people..”
Obuah pointed out that the Rivers people are major stakeholders in the PDP . He urged them to rally support for their own adding that the renewal of the mandate was key to consolidation of their wellbeing well being .
