Former Governor of Ekiti State,Mr Ayodele Fayose has advised the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to take steps in putting the party towards the path of victory in 2023 general elections
He said some of the measures the party could take would be to negotiate with the candidate of the Labour party,Mr Peter Obi and also find a way to make peace with the Wike group.
Fayose made this known Thursday during an interview on Channels Television programme Politics Today.
The former governor said that the PDP might be heading for the rocks as the prevailing scenario reveals the Labour party candidate, Peter Obi is a potential threat to the party in the 2023 presidential election
” Obi is a danger to watch out for. I don’t believe Obi will make 25% in two thirds of the Federation I’m not against Obi. I love him and he’s a very vibrant leader.. I don’t believe because of my own permutation as Ayo Fayose, but because nothing shall be impossible.. But let me now say that Obi is more of a chronic cancer to PDP, that’s no denying.Let me give you my analysis. In the South West here, People may not like to hear that. They might say Fayose is this,I don’t see how PDP wants to win in the South West.Anybody deceiving us can continue to deceive us.I don’t see how PDP will win in the South East.South South will be a combination of all interest.Let me now come back to the key states of the north. Without deceiving ourselves there is so much work to be done in North Central. Both PDP and APC have picked no candidate either as president or vice president in North West which is Kaduna and so on leaving the North East,The North East is where you have the candidate of the PDP. We will give Adamawa to our party but don’t forget there’s another Kwakwanso who is a semi cancer.that can equally unstage figures in the north.. It’s not that PDP will be running with the votes there, reconciling, negotiating with Obi will be a good thing, finding a way to make peace with this Wike’s people too will
be a good thing.”
On whether he supports the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC to win, Fayose said that he would not be compelled to insult Tinubu who is a Yoruba leader or Atiku who is also a leader of his people but said he remains a leader of the PDP and would do what he can to ensure the success of the party.
Fayose also spoke about Wike describing the Rivers Governor as a man with a good heart, courageous and does not betray his friends.
He said Wike , despite the wranglings in the PDP provided the help the party needed during the gubernatorial election and even now adding that Wike is not pursuing a personal interest but the good of the party and the country.
