The Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour party in Rivers State,Mrs Beatrice Itubo is reportedly not happy that Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour party and his running mate,Muhamed Datti, left Port Harcourt without identifying with the members of the party in Rivers State.
Obi and had arrived Port Harcourt on Thursday to commission a project embarked upon by Governor Nyesom Wike,
Current Matters gathered that Mr Obi did not even bother asking after his party’s guber candidate, Itubo who is reported to be involved in a motor accident and had been in the hospital for weeks.
Some critics of the former governor of Anambra State said it was selfish on his part to have traded the ambition of Itubo for his even as his host, Governor Wike told him in clear terms not to waste his money as the labour party has no candidate.
Recall that a High Court in Port Harcourt had on November 4,2022 sacked three candidates of the Labour party billed to contest for seats in Ohio/ Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Area of the state.
The party is said to have appealed the ruling.
However, Itubo, who doubles as Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state and wearing crutches and bandage round her ankle to her upper leg is said to be infuriated by Obi’s behavior and quoted as saying ” ” I will mobilise Labour Party members in Rivers State against Peter Obi “
A social media user reacted to her threat saying” LP has no structure in Rivers State,Madam. Truth is bitter,”.
He said Wike spoke the truth about the Labour party not having candidates adding that the party cannot even win counselor seat in Rivers let alone House of Assembly or National Assembly seats.
