Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has said that the landmark projects he constructed in the state was due to payment he along with other governors of core Niger Delta states received from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Wike who said he had no apologies to make in respect of his revelation of the payment by the president said that the president approved the money which no one had given to the core Niger Delta states,Rivers,Akwa Ibom,Edo,Delta and Bayelsa since 1999.adding” every money they took from us he approved and we got the money and that’s the money I’m using to build the law school, to do 12 flyovers,to build the cancer center……
The governor was speaking at the Flag – Off of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP campaign at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Flanked by the G – 5 governors, namely Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Wike said made clear that it was good to say the truth.
” I don’t know the day I will die, now I’m alive I will tell the people of Rivers State the simple truth and I have said the truth and nothing but the truth.
He thanked members of the integrity group for standing united and strong stressing that no one can break them.
Wike reiterated his stance on inclusivity saying he would not support anybody who sees nothing good in other ethnic groups becoming president of the country.
Wike who said the G-5 governors were fighting a just cause for the soul of the country in terms of equity, fairness and justice assured that not one of the G – 5 governors states would lose election.
” Let me assure you not one of the states of PDP Integrity group would lose their governorship No amount of gang up would make us to lose Abia State,to lose Enugu State,, to lose Benue State,to lose Oyo State and who’s that here to come and lose Rivers State?
Wike urged the people to garner support for f the PDP by showing the party’s score card in the state which he said even the president recognized.
” Mr President said we have done well.if the president said we have done well,who are these people? Do they exist?
” APC in Rivers State sold everything we have,Our plane they sold,we went and brought it back. Do you want them again? the answer was a thunderous no.Our gas turbine Dr Peter Odili installed, they sold it”
On his part,Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu said he was in the state to lend credence and support to the SIM Fubara project. He urged every Rivers man to key into the SIM project because it is very good for somebody to say I will do like Nyesom Wike, Nigeria, Africa and indeed the world, have recognized the handwork of Nyesom Wike, anybody who is going to do otherwise should not be allowed. We must follow the Nyesom Wike trajectory and that trajectory is the trajectory of growth, development, and progress for the people of Rivers State.”.
Also Speaking,Oyo State Governor,Seyi Makinde congratulated all candidates in state for the 2023 election saying” Rivers State is PDP.. They have demonstrated it since 1999. You have done it before severally and you will do it again. For me I want to say that you should remain focus until we have the mandate of the people but assured ” Sim Fubara will be your governor”.
Governor Ortom who is the Chairman of the G-5 governors described Wike as exemplary leader.
“”Iam the Chairman of this team.” Governor Nyesom Wike is the leader of this team The reason is that your son’s exemplary leadership and all of us in the G-5 have accorded him the respect.because he’s a man who fears God. A man who is out to ensure the integrity, fairness and justice. A man who believes in equity and all of us have chosen to work with him.
“We are here today to flag off the Rivers State PDP Campaign Team.From what I have seen here,I want to congratulate the incoming governor of Rivers State 2023. I want to appreciate all of you, and to say that for me as a person in Benue State, and also the chairman of this team,we believe in the same ethics that the governor of Rivers State believes.
“I was the first governor from the North to say before the southern governors came out that the presidency should go to the south.The following day I issued a press statement that what they have said is true and Nigerians, for the sake of equity, fairness and justice should accept that after eight years of president Buhari’s rule , the next president should go to the south irrespective of political affiliation and that’s the right thing to do.
“We are Nigerians and we must ensure that all of us work together.”
Governor Ugwuanyi also urged the people of the state to support Sim Fubara and other candidates of the PDP and wished the state well.
