Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation,Babachir lawal says Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC is talking nonsense for alluding that members of the Party in Northern Nigeria are aggrieved by the Muslim/ Muslim ticket of his party as a result of his refusal to pick them as running mate.
The former SGF said this during an interview programme on Arises TV on Thursday afternoon.
Lawal ,who recently got acquitted by the court over a corruption case where he was said to have allegedly used his company and inflated a grass cutting contract said he could never have aspired to become Tinubu ‘s running given that he ( Lawal) had the requisite qualification to become president of the country if wanted to be.
The former SGF announced that the Christian Community in the North has decided to throw their weight behind Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour party saying that Obi represented a Nigeria which is a departure from the old ways of governance.
According to him, both the PDP and APC have been tried and those around the corridors of power are recycled politicians and families who have been in government since independence..
Asked if his endorsement of the Labour party candidate was a sign of defection to the party, Lawal said he had no plans to jump ship .
