On Saturday, Neymar admitted that he was psychologically destroyed by Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup and it hurt more than any loss in his career.
Neymar said after the match that he might have played his last match for his country however, Pele encouraged him to continue.
“I am psychologically destroyed. It is definitely the defeat which has hurt me the most and it left me paralyzed for ten minutes, after which I burst into tears with being able to stop.” Neymar said in an instagram message.
He scored an impressive individual effort that has equalized the record of Pele’s goalscoring of 77 goals.
Pele hopped on instagram to encourage Neymar and assured him that no goalscoring achievements could compare to the honor of representing Brazil.
“My record was set almost 50 years ago but no one has been able to get close to it until now. You made it, my boy. That adds to the greatness of your achievement.”
“ I have learned that the more time passes, the more our legacy grows.” Pele wrote.
