The joint committee on Niger Delta of the Senate and House of Representatives on Thursday screened Lauretta Onochie for the position of Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The committees also screened 13 other candidates for board positions in the commission, during plenary in Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari had In a letter to the Senate, requested the approval for the appointment of the NDDC board’s chairman and members in compliance with section 2(2)(a) of the Niger Delta Development Commission(Establishment) Act.
It is the second time Buhari has sent a list of candidates for the NDDC board of directors for approval.
Recall that, he forwarded the first list of candidates for the board, who were then approved by the Senate.
However,an error in the earlier compilation, was the reason Buhari decided to present a second list for consideration according to Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate.

- Hon.Gbenga Odegba (Ondo, South-West)
- Engr. Anthony Ekene (Imo, South-East)
- Onyekachi Dimgba (Rivers, South-South)
- Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Abubakar (Zonal Representative, Nasarawa)
- Professor Tallen Mamma, SAN (North-East Representative, Adamawa)
- Sodique Sani (North-West, Zonal Representative)
- Chief Dr. Samuel Ibukun (MD)
