The Trade Union Congress( TUC) in Rivers State says the only solution to the unending fuel crises in the country is for government to put the country’s refineries into use.
The chairman of TUC Ikechukwu Onyefuru said this shortly after his inauguration as Chairman of the Labour Union along with other council members elected earlier this year.
ONYEFURU noted that it would be difficult for private petrol retailers to sell at the official pump price of 179 naira when the dollar exchange has made it difficult for them to import the product below that price.
He called on the newly inaugurated TUC council members to work together towards promoting the welfare of workers.
The TUC Chairman said the union will not take for granted if any of its members is sacked unjustly
Our correspondent reports that also inaugurated was the Union’s Chief of Staff and 11 special Assistants to the TUC Council Chairman.
