…..set to commence campaign for preferred presidential candidate in January
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that the works of his administration in terms of providing good governance to the betterment of the people of the state will convert to votes for the Proples Democratic Party PDP in the state.
Wike said this Thursday during the commissioning of the 10 th Flyover constructed by his administration at Rumukwurishi and Elimgbu in the Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The governor reminded Rivers people in Abuja that the 2023 election will determine who the people would vote for.
The governor said his administration’s provision of infrastructure, prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities will speak for the party and candidates in the election.
Wike drew the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to the mammoth support he enjoys in his local government and the state due to the massive developmental projects saying” it is not when you come here and see how they are giving the votes to our governor, giving the votes to the House of Reps, giving the votes to House of Assembly, and you say this is vote buying,this is what we have done and this is why they are surrendering their votes to us.. We have done for them and they want to do for us.”
The governor announced that he would campaign to his people in January on who to cast their votes for in the presidential election and urged all those who are cynical of his silence to hold on until January when he will make his next step known.
” I will campaign to my people whom they would vote for. So all of you who have been in suspense,who have been saying all kinds of things abusing me, wait! January has come. I will move from state to state why they should vote for the people I think they should vote for.Nothing will happen.
He advised political opponents from Rivers residing in Abuja who tell their followers lies of being politically relevant to stop the lies and come back home and test their popularity by paying for campaign spaces as required by the state law .
” Let me use this opportunity to advise those of them who say they are our brothers in Abuja, this election,2023 election will confirm to us in Rivers State who are those that have influence to vote,who are those that their people would listen to” …
He said that the election will retire people in 2023 as those who failed to win would be complelled go home and rest.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Works,Dr George Kelly had said that the Flyer over which was awarded in January,2022 was delivered before the set period of delivery by the contractor, Julius Berger with all logistics required.
