Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has taken Senator Lee Maeba to the Court of Public opinion over his recent comments on assassination of his life by the governor.
Wike said that it is laughable that Maeba ar no time could be compared to him in terms of his pedigree could drag his name in the mud just to satisfy his friend and paymaster, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
The governor said this during the commissioning of the 17.2 kilometre Bori- Kono road dualisation project constructed with about N 14 billion on Friday.

Wike who stated that development is about offering services to the people as completion of the road shows questioned the audacity of Maeba to link him with assanination attempt when he had nothing to benefit from killing him since both are world’s apart
“What will I benefit to go and kill Lee Maeba?
At the time I had my degree in political science,Maeba was a cook. When I graduated in law,he was also a cook.
What is your importance in Khana? You are not a threat so the issue of killing does not arise.
Wike told the people of Ogoni that Maeba was churning out tissues of lies . He revealed that Maeba while serving in the National Assembly was one of the few Senators close to Atiku then as Vice President but failed to attract projects to his community and Ogoniland.
He said the only thing Maeba got was an oil block – which he sold at $15 million (N 35billion) but Maeba could not built primary school and other necessary projects for the people.
“13.5 billion you got,was to paid you. Mention which Ogoni son or daughter you have sent on scholarship to go and read. Mention which primary school in Ogoni land you’ve gone to repair since you have represented them. As a Minister my community never had a school,I brought a school to my community. As a Chief of Staff,I brought roads to my community. Lee you are doing constituency projects, where is your own in Ogoni land,?
” Stop using Ogoni people. Stop telling them lies.No amount of lies you can concort can change the minds of the people because they know all you are doing is your selfish interest.
” You said I promised you governor,I never.You said they were calling you heir to the throne,which throne,,?I don’t have a throne to give anybody.
” We are not people of violence, we’re not. The other day you and Abiye Sekibo went to Igboukwu without approval of government to site a political office.You are talking about Executive Order 21 and 22 ,that has now been taken over by the law passed by the State Assembly.We didn’t send the Chairman of Port Harcourt to go and bring it down. We have the powers,we said no let’s take a step further. We went to court to say, look this is a violation of the provisions of the law.It was the court that approved that the place should be sealed up.If we were violent, since you want to try whether we are violent, but you have been defeated we cannot be violent. We have only followed due process .
” So when you begin to set up trap thinking that you want to make Rivers State to be violent,you will fall. And already you have started failing.
” Why are we going to be violent when we know what to show – Operation Show Your Report Card. This is the period my mother and father sent me to school. The result is out.What did you make? Pass or which pass or Excellence? We’ve done very well so we don’t need to be violent. The people will support us.
He urged those complaining about harrasment to work according to the state laws.
Wike said his government had always toed the part of law to get what it wanted citing its suit against the Federal Government on Value Added Tax ( VAT and directive to use state funds to fund federal agencies.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Works, Dr George Kelly said that “the Bori – Kono project serves as the nerve centre of the spinal cord of the Ogoni ethnic nationality “adding that the road has two bridges,each of the bridges is 45 metre long .
