….cautions traditional rulers to stop playing politics with stools
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says he is overjoyed that several communities, hitherto inaccessible and forgotten are linked by roads and bridges during his administration.
Governor Wike said this Wednesday at the Flag off of the Obodhi – Ozochi Road/ bridge project in Ahoada West local government area of the state..
Wike said he is saddened by the situation of incessant kidnapping of workers on road construction sites by hoodlums in the LGA and wondered why no one including custodians of culture in the area is saying or doing anything about it.
The governor urged the people of Ahoada West and the Rivers State Traditional council to tell the Eze – Igbu Upata III to stop playing politics with the traditional stool or face consequences, adding that though he had only a few more months to stay in office,he could still do what he wants to do.
He recalled that past administrations in the state refused to upgrade the Upata stool but his administration, knowing the contributions of the late Eze CC Nwuche to the state, along with the population of the area, made it to elevate the stool to first class stool.
.On request for more projects from the state government, Wike asked the people to first of all reciprocate the gesture of projects sited in the area by supporting all PDP candidates in the state
He said it was important for the people to vote for Sir Simiialayi Fubara to consolidate on the achievements of his ( Wike) administration.
The governor chided the people of Ahoada West for failing to complete the school project at Government Secondary School Okarki after payment of 100 percent mobilisation fee assuring that he has taken over the project and will award it to a new contractor.
Wike reeled out his projects done in the area which include the Mbiama Okarki road and the construction of the Obodhi – Ozochi road/ bridge project which will commence immediately.
.He seized the opportunity to announce that the flagging off the PDP campaign on Monday with Ogba Egbema Ndoni LGA as first port of call.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Works,Dr George Kelly said the road project was awarded to Setraco Nig Ltd. He said it was the first time the communities, would see development in the area of road linking them to urban areas.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Council,Mr Hope Ikiriko said history will be kind to Governor Wike for infrastructural development across local government areas of Rivers State.
