The Abia State Government and all the National security agencies have been alerted over the abduction of the National President, Royal Friends Rights Advocacy, Development and Empowerment Foundation, Amb. Jonathan David Okwudiri on Thursday, 12th January, 2023 at about 1000hrs by a group of individuals led by one Chief Evans C. Arimadu and ten others.
A statement by the Secretary of the group, Evangelist Nonso Iheanyi, says that the sad episode took place in his community in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, Abia State as he miraculously managed to escape at about 1715hrs.
“We also received information that upon his abduction, he was taken to a house well fenced with maximum unbreakable gate at Nwaji Village in Osieke Autonomous Community, Ugwunagbo LGA, Abia state”
“Available facts revealed that his abductors are instrumental to the murder of one of the National President’s staff at his private security company, Late Mr Celestine Ichemaogwula Arimadu whose corpse is still lying in the mortuary at Paradise Medical Service, Aba.
The statement further revealed that these group of individuals while in custody of the National President at their dungeon, seriously assaulted and inflicted injuries all over his body with matchet slaps at his back as his two hands and legs were inhumanly tied, which also gave him serious wounds. They also threatened to kill him if he does not hands off from the prosecution of the culprit, who murdered his staff, hence his life is being seriously threatened.
“Consequently, report has disclosed that the dreaded kingpin of the notorious group, Chief Engr. Evans Arimadu has been terrorising the community and vowed to eliminate the life of Okwudiri if he continues in the pursuit of the murder case.
Also, in the course of the National President’s unwarranted ordeal, the group made away with the following items belonging to him viz;
- Two ATM Cards (from Stanbic IBTC Bank and First Bank Plc)
- National ID Card
- Royal Ambassadors Charity Home ID card
- Oha-Osieke Vigilante Group ID Card
- Ministry of Homeland Security, Abia State Government ID Card
- All his retirement documents and Pension Certificate.
- A physical cash of two hundred and seventy one thousand naira (N271,000)
- One Samsung Galaxy phone worth N125,000
- One Tecno Phone worth N60,000
- One Itel Small Phone worth N15,000
- Police Retirement ID Card
The statement adds that, others involved in this dastardly act led by Chief Engr. Evans C. Arimadu includes;
- Prince Enyinnaya Uhiara
- Mr Chiemela Ugboaja
- Mr Ahuruezenma Samuel Adiele
- Mr Chukwudi Adiele
- Mr Wogu Adiele
- Chief Agu Onyeukwu and four others whom the National President, Amb Jonathan David OkwudiriI doesn’t know their names but would identify them if seen.
“We as an organisation are therefore calling on the Government and all well meaning Nigerians to intervene in this life threatening situation of the National President of Royal Friends Rights Advocacy, Development and Empowerment Foundation, as his abductors who have vowed to silence him are still after his life owing to his escape from their custody” It pleaded.
It also called on the Inspector General of police, Director General of DSS, the Government of Abia State, other relevant security agencies, human right and civil society organizations for justice, arrest and possible prosecution of all persons involved in these acts of impunity and wickedness being masterminded by Chief Engr. Evans Arimadu and his cohorts on the life of Amb. Jonathan David Okwudiri, a human right activist, whose crime was only pursuing justice for the unwholesome murder of an innocent Nigerian, Late. Mr Celestine Ichemaogwula Arimadu.
