Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter Tuesday requesting the speedy consideration and confirmation of appointment of Solomon Arase, as new chairman of the Police Service Commission( PSC), the
Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of the former Inspector General of Police (IGP )after successful screening by the Senate Committee on Police Affairs.
Chairman,Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Jika Haliru ( Bauchi Central)who presented the report of the committee to the senate in plenary, said Arase performed creditably during the screening exercise and proved that he has the capacity to lead the PSC as its Chairman.
After adopting the report of the committee, the Senate unanimously confirmed Solomon Arase as the substantive Chairman of the PSC.
Meanwhile, the Senate has adjourned plenary to 28th February after the Presidential election..
Before adjourning sitting, the Red Chamber considered several reports of its committee on TETFUND seeking for the establishment of tertiary institutions as well as the report of the committee on health on the legal framework to establish the Federal Medical Centre Okigwe in Imo state,
