The behind – the closest door meeting of President Muhammadu Buhari and the wise governors of the progressive Forum over the naira swap ended without any breakthrough as the president insists that the CBN policy was the best thing to happen to the economy.
Nasir El -Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State made this known to newsmen after the meeting with the president at the presidential villa on Friday.
He said that the progressive governors appealed to the president to allow the old notes to coexist with the new naira notes to ease the sufferings of innocent Nigerians but the president said the policy would boost the economy but expressed fears of banks commitment to achieving government objective.
However, President Buhari after his meeting with the governors took to his verified Twitter page to console them on the hardship they are facing.
He Tweets ” Iam aware of the cash shortages and hardship being faced by people and businesses,on account of the Naira design. I want to assure that we are doing everything to resolve these issues Nigerians should expect significant improvements between now and the February 10 deadline.
