Governor of Rivers State,Nyesom Wike said the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Presidential Campaign Council PCC in Rivers State cancelled its rally in the state following its inability to mobilise the number of people required to fill the stadium.
The Rivers Government had approved the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium for campaign of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP on February 11 but withdrew the approval after a reported alliance between the Atiku group and a violent faction of the All Progressives Congress APC on use of the facility
Days later, the government re-approved the facility for the Atiku Campaign Council but the Atiku group led by Senator Lee Maeba , chose to hold the rally on another property of government along the Rainbow/ Trans Amadi area of Port Harcourt city.
Wike who spoke at Nyemoni Secondary School field in Abonnema town, venue of PDP campaign for Akuku-Toru Local Government Area on Monday said that instead of going to use the facility he approved, the PDP PCC ran away because they lacked the capacity to mobilise and fill the stadium..
“I gave them the stadium, they know they have no capacity to fill the stadium, they are looking for excuses. They went and forced themselves to use government land at Trans Amadi. I said no, that was not where I gave you. Where I gave you was Adokiye Amiesimaka, go and fill that place.
“They now said no, we won’t go there again. We don’t want people to die. Who is killing who? Is anybody killing anybody? I said don’t pay money, I will buy the diesel for you. I will do everything for you. Mobilise, go, and fill that stadium. They ran away.”
