Angry mob on Wednesday put fire to two commercial banks, Access and Union Banks in Delta State following absence of cash at the Banks ATM.
Current Matters gathered that the incident happened at Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was further learnt that the mob set the buildings on fire with the staff inside before taking the manager of one of the banks hostage.
The protesting mob also destroyed vehicles and other properties ar the banks ‘ premises.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO of the state Command DSP Bright Edafe said two banks and two vehicles were set ablaze by the protesters adding that 9 suspects have been arrested by operatives of the command
His statement via Twitter reads
” In UDU LGA of Delta State, some unguided youths/ miscreants in the name of protest have set two banks and two vehicles ablaze.
We have arrested nine suspects so far. Some persons will still call this protest.”
