The Supreme Court of Nigeria has adjourned until next Wednesday to hear the suit filed by some state governors on the naira swap policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria
Governors of Kaduna,Kogi and Zamfara had sued the Federal Government and the CBN over the February 10 deadline for exchange of old naira notes following the shortness of time and the suffering of the masses due to scarcity of the new naira notes.
The governors are seeking the coexistence of the old and new ones to reduce the pain of Nigerians.
Niger, Kano and Lagos have also applied to be joined in the suit.
Present in court Wednesday were the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai and his Kogi counterpart, Yahaya Bello.
Speaking after the adjournment, Governor Bello said the suffering of Nigerians due to the ban on old notes and lack of access to the new notes was the reason for the court action
He however, called on Nigerians to remain law abiding adding that should anything happen to them in the process of taking the laws in their hands, they would not be there to enjoy their money.
