The Divine Mandate Campaign Council has expressed concern over the alleged use of fake security Officers by opposition political parties during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ebonyi State.
The Director-General of the Council, Chief Austin Umahi made the allegation while briefing newsmen at the Campaign Council Office, Water Works Road, Abakaliki, Monday.
Chief Umahi decried the situation where some political party Candidates intimidated unsuspecting voters and carted away electoral materials using fake security personnel during the Saturday’s elections.
The DG decried a situation where the Security aides of APC Candidates and VIPs were withdrawn according to the law but that of the opposition political parties were allowed to be used by them to cause infractions at the elections.
He challenged Security Chiefs in the State to as a matter of urgency tame the excesses of some opposition political party Candidates in order not to throw up the State for mayhem in subsequent elections.
“What they demonstrated in the Saturday election, I beg and plead, let them not try it again, if they try it again, they will be resisted vehemently.
“If Anyi Chuks is not checked and the right security assigned to him, I will go and recruit my men and if the trend is to sew uniform, we will all go and sew military uniform and people will be following us, enough is enough.”
The Campaign Director-General warned that should the security Agencies fail to do the needful, the Divine Mandate Campaign Council and the APC would be forced to resort to selfhelp in the remaining elections.
