
…….Ordered to Receive Medical Attention At Police Clinic Over Undisclosed Ailment

The Police in Rivers State have dragged a member of the House of Representatives for Port Harcourt City Local Government Constituency II, Mr Chinyere Igwe to court over alleged money laundering offence..
Igwe was caught with $498,100 on the eve of the February 25 Presidential election during a stop and search operation along Aba Road , Port Harcourt, Police say.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,Atiku Abubakar reportedly gave him the money.
Also found on him was a list of people who were expected to receive the money from him.
Igwe was arraigned on Wednesday before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on one count- charge of money laundering.
He was pleaded not guilty
According to the charge sheet, the lawmaker was seen in possession of $498,000 on the 24th day of February 2023 without reporting to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
At court on Wednesday, Igwe’s legal representative made an application for bail but the police raised objections.
However, after listening to the arguments and submissions ,the trial Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, adjourned till 14th of March, 2023 for bail consideration.
The Judge also directed that the accused person be sent to Nigerian Police Clinic for attention on a medical report about his health.
