The Zango Kataf Local Administration Council in Kaduna State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on parts of LGA in Southern Kaduna following the killing of 17’ people by gunmen in
Zangon Kataf LGA of the state.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed parts of the LGA at about 7 o’clock on Saturday evening
About 17 corpses are reported to have been recovered in the wake of the attack.
Zango Kataf is the home of Sunday Alake, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour party in the state.
The community as others in Southern Kaduna have seen circles of violence over the years resulting in wanton killings and destruction of properties reportedly traced to communal wranglings, Farmers/ Herdsmen clashes and lately, ethnic cleansing
According to a statement by Yabo Ephraim, the media aide to the LGA chairman, the ” 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Ungwan Juju, Mabuhu, Ungwan Wakili and Zangon Urban with immediate effect,”
“This is to allow men of the Nigerian army to restore peace on that axis.”He said.
