A male ad-hoc staff of the independent National Electoral Commission INEC , have been shot dead by a stray bullet of some political thugs who came to hijack electoral materials in Ward 7 Abual Central, Rivers State.
Some electorates who witnessed the incident said the political thugs drove into the area shooting sporadically in the air when the stray bullet hit the yet- to -be identified INEC official.
Reports said the victim died on the way to the hospital .
Meanwhile, in Ward 17, units five, Egita, Egiland ONELGA, our reporter who captured the voting process, said voting stopped abruptly in that area. When asked, the Polling officer complained that Party Agents were clashing and almost fighting because of perceived personal interests.
An electorate told our reporter that some party agents are influencing the electorates on party to vote for at the polling booth and fight almost erupted when the act was not going down well with other party Agents..
In a similar development, in Ward 7 unit 5, 6 and 16 in one center the OSPAC took over the security there following the presence of only one female police officer for each of the unit.
Meanwhile, reports have it that the people of Gokana community Rivers State have held INEC officials hostage in several wards, for refusing to transmit election results, with their BVAS machines.
The INEC officials attribute the difficulties in transmitting results with their BVAS to poor network in uploading the results, but the people are demanding they transmit the results.
Also in Gokana, results from four polling LGA, units have been transmitted out of 16 in ward 16, Bera in Gokana LGA.
The electorates in Bera community are demanding that their results be transmitted before the INEC officials would be allowed to leave the polling Centre.
The rack technician for Bera ward 16 says he is working to get the results transmitted.
