The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared Malam Umar Namadi as the duly elected governor of Jigawa state
He polled a total of 589,052 votes to defeat his closest rival Sule Lamido of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who got 329053 votes.
Speaking after his declaration, the Governor- elect, Malam Namadi described his election as the will of God and therefore expressed his appreciation to the Almighty and people of the State for their resilient in their commitments, support and prayers for his victory at the Gubernatorial election.
Malam Umar Namadi said he was elected not because he is better than anyone but that is the will of God Whom He gives power to anyone He so wishes.
The Governor- elect called on the people of the state to always remain prayerful and commitment in the development of the state as he promised to continue with legacies of his predecessor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of prudence and good Governance.
According to a statement by Habibu Kila, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Public Relations, the incumbent Governor Muhammad Badaru rejoiced with Governor elect and the people of the state saying he was fulfilled by the choice of Malam Umar Namadi as his Successor whom he has confidence in
Badaru also described the governor elect as loyal, hardworking and prudent in whatever he does.
