The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has warned the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from accusing civil servants under his administration of corruption.
The governor told the PDP that his administration had nothing to hide, and such, should refrain from accusing his government officials.
His reaction follows an alarm raised by the State Chapter of the PDP and signed by the secretary,John Akans over alleged looting and conversion of public assets by the Lalong administration.
However, the governor in a statement signed by the State Commissioner of Information, Dan Majang, expressed surprise at the allegation.
He explained that the allegation came as a shock because it was under the same administration, Plateau State was adjudged the second-least corrupt state in Nigeria in the 2nd Corruption Survey Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
According to him,It was preposterous for PDP to make wild and unsubstantiated claims of corruption against the government and specific officers without any evidence.
The governor said that the PDP was already issuing threats and picking out specific government officials for intimidation, harassment, and persecution, even before taking over power adding
“ What will they do if they eventually scale the difficult mountain before them at the Tribunal and the Supreme Court and take over?
Recall that the PDP won Lalong’s party, the All Progressives Congress APC in the March 18 governorship election.while the party fell to the Labour party in the February 25 Presidential election.
“Let it be on record that the Rescue Administration of Governor Simon Bako Lalong has nothing to hide or fear and can never be involved in any looting, conversion of public assets, or criminal conduct in contract awards as alleged.
“If anything, the APC Rescue Administration has, in the last eight years, conducted the business of governance with the utmost prudence, accountability, transparency, and diligence. During his tenure, Governor Lalong set up the Efficiency Unit (EU), implemented the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the Liquidity Management Committee (LMC), and the Project Monitoring and Result Delivery Office (PMRDO), among others, to ensure that the business of governance is done according to established rules.”
