The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Command in Imo State has confirmed the killing of two of its men by bandits in Obiangwu in the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Spokesman for the corps in the state,Chimeziri Noel, who confirmed the incident to journalists , said the officers were on routine monitoring of some critical national assets and infrastructure in the area when the incident occurred.
According to him, the NSCDC officers were attacked and killed by bandits in the early hours of Monday, adding that their bodies had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri.
He said, investigation has commenced into the unfortunate incident while the command with the assistance of other security agencies has activated a search party to go after the hoodlums.
He added that the command has beefed up security around the area of the incident.
