President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Department of State DSS, the Nigerian Police and the Military to arrest those responsible for the killing in Benue State.
The President in a statement on Saturday issued by his Media aide,Garba Shehu condemned the “extreme violence” and killings of scores of people in Benue State within one week.
While condemning the “use of terrorism as a tool in inter-communal conflicts”, Buhari ordered that the attackers “be found and dealt with” swiftly under the law.
The president directed the security agencies to beef up surveillance on every front and to immediately review the security management in the affected areas.
He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families adding that the country is united in the fight against terrorism.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those murdered. The entire nation stands united in the fight against the forces of terror and evil,” the President was quoted as saying.
No fewer than 46 persons including the thirty-three-year-old son of Otukpo Local Government Area Chairman Bako Eje, were killed by suspected herdsmen who invaded Umogidi village of Entekpa-Adoka district of the Benue LGA Wednesday
This happened hours after suspected herders stormed the same village and killed three residents.
.In the same vein, no fewer than 34 persons were killed in an attack Friday night on Internally Displaced Persons ( IDP) camp at LGEA Primary School Mgban in Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
