President Muhammadu Buhari was responsible for securing the release of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour party in the February 25 Presidential election, Peter Obi at the Heathrow Airport detention last Weekend , current matters gathered.
According to a statement by the Labour party Presidential Campaign Council,Obi had gone to the UK on a short visit at the weekend when he was detained by immigration officials on routine check at the London Heathrow airport over alleged identity theft.
Since news of his detention about 48 hours ago made headlines, there has been no report on how he was freed, rather what was highlighted was that obedients at the airport responsible for his release.
However, current matters learnt that it took the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari to secure the release of Mr Obi.at the UK border control.
Buhari was said to have deployed the Chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission,Abike Dabiri to secure Obi’s freedom from the eagle – eyed Heathrow immigration officers.
Obi ,a former governor of Anambra state was placed third in the February 25 Presidential election,but believers of the obedient movement said he was the one to beat in the election.
At the moment , legal fire works have begun on the outcome of the election with lawyers having a field day at the Tribunal.
