The Nigerian Diaspora Commission ( NIDCOM) says the federal government had no hand in the release of Peter Obi at the London Heathrow airport
Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour party had gone on a short visit to the United Kingdom last weekend but was detained by immigration officials at the airport over identity theft.
On Thursday, the Federal Government was said to have helped in securing the release of Mr Obi.
But Abdur- Rahman Balogun, the Media aide to the NIDCOM boss, Abike Dabiri – Erewa said that she was not in a position to facilitate the release of any Nigerian under interrogation in the UK.
” Our attention has been called to the above social media stunt which has gone viral. Aunty Abike Dabiri – Erewa is NOT in UK and NOT in a position to secure the release of any Nigerian suspected to be under UK interrogation.
So, members of the public should disregard the information in its entirety” Balogun said.
In the viral photo suggesting the release of Mr Obi, Abike Dabiri was seen sitting in front of an immigration official but backing Obi in a manner revealing discomfort.
