A Non governmental organisation, Positive Teens has restated its commitment to redirect the mindsets of youths towards the norms and values of society that guarantees positive living.
Founder of the group,Mr Jonny Dabopuye said that training of the children cuts across younger children to teenagers.
Speaking to current matters, he said that the programme which started a couple of years back has witnessed tremendous viable outcomes in enrolment and outreach as the children of Iyo-Polo, Marine Base, P.H. and others from neighbouring waterfronts look forward to congregate to participate in the activities of the organisation.
Jonny said in the spirit of the organisation’s mantra of “redirecting the mindsets of teens”, programs have been organised for the children from January 2023 ranging from Educational Enlightenment to Virtuous lifestyles.
According to him, on the 23April,2023, the children who were more than 200 were taught the basic principles of Kindness
In his perception,”Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate. We don’t learn kindness by sitting and watching others, we learn kindness by practicing it.
Kindness is also seen as a direct show of
COMPASSION: Show of pity and concern for the suffering and misfortunes of others.
EMPATHY: The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
FORGIVENESS: An intentional decision to let go of anger.
“As positive teens you should grow up with the old adage: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This is best known as the “golden rule”, It simply means you should treat others as you would like to be treated.
“How do you show kindness?
- Focus on others, kindness puts others at the center.
- Offering a helping hand…
- Be there to listen…
- Send care packages (no matter how small)
- Stay connected with others.
- Expect good things to happen and be a positive light at all times to yourself, family and others.
- Smile at others unconditionally.
- Compliment others.
- React with compassion when someone is rude or inconsiderate.
- Give someone a boost in difficult times.

“Don’t find it difficult to say, please, thank you, I was wrong, I am sorry. These are demonstrations of kindness that smooth our interactions and help other people feel as though you’re aware of them.
“As a positive teenager, the act of honouring your parents, being respectful, caring, being honest, courageous, show of empathy, show of gratitude, self-compassion, self-acceptance, humility, mindfulness, trust, responsible and humour should be part of your life.
He added an
Inspirational quote which says “The first rule of kindness is to be kind to yourself”.
