The Economic and Finance Crimes Commission EFCC has accused Bello Matawalle, the Governor of Zamfara State of stealing more than N70BN from the coffers of the state.
The accusation comes just a few days after Matawalle spoke Against the EFCC accusing the agency of corruption and selective profiling and prosecution of corruption cases.
Matawalle also told the Anti -graft agency to probe those working with the President to ensure that its credibility is untainted.
But EFCC ‘s Director of Public Affairs, Osita Nwajah on Thursday while addressing journalists at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja said that the Agency is investigating Matawalle for over N70BN theft.
The commission rejected the allegations of bias in corruption cases, pointing out that Matawalle is out to distract the agency from performing its activities.
