The new government of Cross River State has unlocked key sectors which will stimulate the growth of the state economy and give the people a better life.
Governor of the state,Senator Bassey Edet Otu revealed this at his maiden speech after his oath taking ceremony at the stadium in Calabar on Monday.
Otu,who heaped praise on his predecessor, Professor Ben Ayade for his firm belief in power rotation in the state expressed appreciation for the All Progressives Congress APC and residents of the state for his success at the polls. He said he would not in any way allow the people to walk alone.
Otu said that he joined politics for the purpose of serving the people and would leverage on that, pointing out that he has already developed a road map to kick start his developmental agenda for the state.
According to him, his administration will ensure that security is given prime concern and criminality given zero tolerance.
Some other areas that his government will prioritize according to him, include Healthcare, Sanitation, Developing the Marine Sector, Revamping ailing income earners such as Tinapa and Obudu Resorts while also focusing on Agriculture to ensure maximum food security and boost the economy of the state
At the U.J Usuene Stadium which witnessed parades of colours and culture, the new governor had his wife,Eyoawan Bassey Otu by his side . The former governor,Ayade, Former governor, Clement Ebri and Strong Woman ” Senator Florence Ita Giwa and other dignitaries were on hand to give the new governor a successful inauguration.
Later on, the governor was treated to a reception at the Calabar International Convention Centre and a late night inaugural ball at The Tent.
Otu was a two – term lawmaker in the Federal House of Representatives,He also represented the Cross River South as Senator in the 7th Senate. He is rated as skilled administrator, humble, dedicated , God-fearing and trustworthy by the people
