…. Describes purveyors of such reports as malicious wicked..
The Ondo State Government on Tuesday dismissed as untrue media reports that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is seriously unwell and incapable of performing his duties .
Akeredolu had embarked on medical leave over a month ago and on June 13, transmitted power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa which was further extended .
The development had cast doubt and fuelled suspicion of the governor’s true state of health.
Also, the absence of the governor has reportedly created a power tussle between the governor’s strong men in the cabinet and the deputy governor.
The government’s denial of Akeredolu”s worsening health challenge came against the backdrop of a reported statement by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Adamu, allegedly said in a meeting with State Chairmen of the party in Abuja on Monday that Akeredolu is in a state of “extreme incapacity”.
However, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, clarified in a statement that Akeredolu is not in a critical state.
According to him,“The national chairman was indeed excited at the reports on the rate of recovery of the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and urged all those present at the meeting to pray for his quick return,” Ademola-Olateju said.
“He is, evidently, not in any critical state that should warrant this clearly reprehensible conduct as he still sent a post to the executive council committee platform yesterday.
“Mr. Governor is not incapacitated. He will return to his duty as soon as the doctors certify him fully fit to do so.”
In the same vein,the APC has described the report on Akeredolu’s deteriorating health as malicious ,wicked and insensitive reportage sponsored by desperate politicians
In a statement Tuesday , the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore said;
“At no time did the National Chairman mention that the Governor was in a state of ‘extreme incapacity’ in the meeting of 10th July 2023 or anytime for that matter,” Omisore said.
“He (Akeredolu) is, evidently, not in any critical state that should warrant this clearly reprehensible conduct as he still sent a post to the Executive Council Committee platform yesterday.”
