Traditional Rulers in Oropotoma Town in Elekehia community, Obio-Akpo local government area of Rivers State have continued to commend Rotary Clubs for carrying out projects that has improved the wellbeing of the people in the area.
The Nyerisi Mbam, Nyewali Oropotoma, Eze Nyema Onuwor, made the commendation while handing over some reflective Vests and Rain Coats to the Elekahia Division Police Station, donated by the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt City Valley.
HRH Eze Nyema Onuwor, said the items donated will add value to the services rendered by the Police to the community.
“This donation is very important because we value the men and women who serve here at the police station, their services add value to the community. We all know security is paramount here, once we are secured we can do things better without fear. This will inspire and motivate the men and women who serve here to put in their best services”, he said.
On his part Elder Emma Obi JP, the Chairman of the Police Community Relationship Committee, Elekahia Division and Mini Okoro area Command, said “Rotary Clubs have been identifying with us here with their sustainable life impacting projects. What they have done here is a continuation of what they have been doing, and we deeply appreciate it”.
The President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt City Valley Paul Ojinta said twenty reflective vests and twenty raincoats were donated to cushion the effects of the rains on the officers who stay under the rains to control traffic in the area, in the day and night time.
He said the project falls under the Rotary International area of focus: Community Empowerment and Development, and Disease Prevention and treatment.
The Rotary President said this year Rotarians are prioritizing projects that will #CreateHopeintheworld and tackle #Mentalhealth.
