Senator Abubakar Kyari has emerged the Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC following the resignation of Senator Abdullah Adamu as party National Chairman.
Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman ( North)who formally announced the resignation of Adamu and the Secretary,Iyiola Omisore at a meeting of the National Working Committee NWC of the party on Monday in Abuja also announced Festus Fuanter, the Deputy National Secretary as Acting Secretary.
Adamu had reportedly tendered his resignation on Sunday under duress by angry party stakeholders ..Their grievance being that he supported former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and single handedly tried to present him as a consensus candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Also,Adamu and Omisore were accused by some members of the National Working Committee NWC of corruption and high handedness ,having no regard for the internal mechanisms and members of the NWC.
Current matters gathered that during the meeting which started at about 1pm , Omisore and Adamu were shut out.
Kyari also said that the National Executive Council NEC meeting and National Caucus meeting scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, the leader of the party and Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu who is being expected in the country after a trip to Nairobi for a meeting of the African Union has said nothing about the development.
