….. As Wike beats chest over amazing successor’s amazing projects
Governor of Rivers State, Siminilayi Fubara has given a rundown of the new 50. 15 kilometres Ring Road project by his administration.
Fubara, who spoke at the Flag Off of the road project at the UTC junction,Port Harcourt on Monday debunked reports circulating in the media that the project was still at the level of Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) . He said that the government has long passed that stage as contract has been signed and money committed which is the reason for the flag off of the project.
The governor said that the project which is covering 6 Local Government Areas of the state is designed to connect the people, and bring new cities to Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Fubara however warned trouble makers around the designated Local Government Areas of the project- PHALGA ,Obio Akpor, Ikwerre, Etche, Okrika and Eleme to stay away assuring that the government would pay compensation but would not condone any act of sabotage or lawlessness by anyone or group.
He Urged Julius Berger, the contractor firm which he described as having integrity in terms of quality and delivery not to fail the state by ensuring the timely completion of the road
The governor reeled out other projects that would be undertaken by his administration but said for now, the ring road is the priority.
Flagging of the Ring Road project, immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike described his successor as humble and God- sent.
Wike said the man ( Fubara)who doesn’t talk has shown action with the commencement of a project having”6 flyovers and one bridge across the water.
According to him, the governor has paid 75%of the total sum which is N150 billion to Julius Berger, saying though people may express worry over the amount expended on the road yet,”no one can develop the state better than us “
A delighted Wike urged Fubara to govern the state without fear but with humility and and giving good governance adding that Nigerians would be amazed by what Sim would show in his first hundred days in office.
The former governor said the Ring Road project ought to be driven by the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, but unfortunately, the commission is a Niger Delta Cash Cow.
He challenged the NDDC if it is sincere to take the ring road from the Borokiri axis to Okrika and terminate at Alesa Eleme.
While he beat his chest that no State government had undertaken a project as humongous as the ring road project, Wike urged Fubara to stay in the state and develop the state and avoid being lured by people to attend meetings in Abuja saying nothing good comes out of those meetings.
” We thank God Almighty that God gave us somebody who would not come like those, they’ve not entered power you see the arrogance.just the mere fact that they are the candidate. Arrogance has come then when they are elected, not to talk about when they are being sworn in.See the governor we have, still very humble.
” Mr Governor let me also advise you, the people that elected you are in the state. They are not in Abuja.Stay in your state, and face the challenges of your people. Don’t allow them to lure you to be sleeping in Abuja, that there’s one meeting or the other, nothing comes out of those meetings. Stay in your state and develop your state. They won’t give you anything there.
Our money is not to develop any political party, our money is to develop our state. They would be luring you because they think with Rivers, money would come and one party or the other would grow. Our money is for the development of Rivers State
” Stay here and work, you’ll feel happy. At the end of the day, Rivers people will appreciate you”
He congratulated Fubara for his boldness in starting the project.
