
The Director of State Services DSS, has re-arrested the embattled governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele was reportedly re-arrested at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on Tuesday after Justice Nicholas Oweibo admitted him to bail.
A reporter at the court premises said a clash ensued between the DSS and Prison Officials over whose custody Emefiele should be,and after the prison officials left the court premises in anger and frustration following the DSS insistence on taking the suspended bank chief to custody,the DSS had a field day and whisked him away .
The DSS had dragged Emefiele to court and levelled a two – count charge of illegal possession of firearm against him.
Emefiele’s trouble began after president Bola Tinubu suspended him from office on June 8.
He was picked up by the DSS 24 hours later in Lagos where he was clad in an outfit popular in Northern Nigeria.and reportedly trying to flee the country .
Though the Nigerian secret police has had a dossier on Emefiele while he held sway as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria , prominent among which was alleged, terrorism financing ,gross abuse of office, economic sabotage and lately , illegal possession of firearm,the suspended Governor pleaded not guilty to charges preferred against him in the court of law.
