The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it will embark on an indefinite strike on August 2 if the Federal Government failed to reverse all anti-people policies, including the recent hike in the pump price of petrol.
Towards this development, the NLC has directed all its affiliates and state councils to immediately begin mobilisation of workers and other Nigerians, including civil society allies, for a total strike and mass protests..
The directive is one of the key decisions reached at NLC’s Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting held on Tuesday, July 25, at Abuja Labour House
The Trade Union Congress TUC had also recently threatened to down tools if the Federal Government failed to fast track action on Palliatives to cushion the effect of hardship suffered by as a result of removal of fuel subsidy.
The NLC threat comes a few hours after the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors ( NARD) threatened to go on total and indefinite strike over salary increment and other issues.
