The Nigerian Army on Friday said that its troops arrested a former soldier in Bauchi State suspected to be supplying weapons to Boko Haram members.
According to a report by the Army Joint Task Force , the troops arrested the suspect in Boi, an area situated in the Bogoro Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi state.
it said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had been dismissed from 5 Brigade Damasak adding that two pistols, two magazines, and eight rounds of 9 mm ammo were recovered from the individual during the arrest.
“On 18 July 23, troops arrested one suspected gunrunner at Boi in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was a dismissed soldier from 5 Bde Damasak. Troops recovered 2 pistols, 2 magazines, and 8 rounds of 9 mm ammo,” part of the report read.
In the report, the army also revealed that on the same day, its troops arrested two suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists’ logistic suppliers at Kukareta Mkt. in Damaturu LGA of Yobe State in another operation.
It said two mobile phones and the sum of seven thousand two hundred and sixty-five naira were recovered among other sundry items.
