A quintessential leader is a person with character traits that distinguish him among people in leadership positions, although he has imperfections, makes mistakes, and sometimes fails spectacularly, these character traits define how he handle himself in both the worst of times and the best of times.
It is worthy to note that the sole yearning to serve one’s fatherland is innate and springs from an inner motivation to give all of what a leader embodies in life without fear or reservation. This is clearly seen in the stellar leadership of Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, who is a stunning depiction of a quintessential, selfless, patriotic, committed, a compatriot and talented leader.
When he was the Governor of Jigawa State, he demonstrated uncommon competence, character, courage, credibility and compassion in discharging his responsibilities.
He is no doubt a bridge builder and an embodiment of national unity.
It is for commendation and a greater higher responsibility that an appraisal is given a pride of place in a decent and developed society. Governor Badaru Abubakar is a national treasure, who has justified the confidence the people reposed in him. His passion for transparency and accountability and the principles of value for money earned him a title of leader with a vision. We are proud to associate with his successes and milestone achievements.
He has always been trusted to be prudent, meticulous, considerate, fair and firm in planning and execution of any assignment given to him. The qualities that he is said to exhibit include interpersonal appeal, capacity to organise, energy to mobilise, deep understanding of party politics and cross-breed of the ideas of the young and old.
Badaru is a quiet achiever, the type who does not believe in self-glorification but is an assiduous goal-getter. He mostly works silently but steadily, focusing on the target.
He is always calm, composed and carefully choosy in utterance if he has to speak at all.
He will always be remembered as a performer per excellence who executed the mandate many thought was not executable on account of the many unforeseen hurdles on his path.
By commitment and consistency ,Badaru, abolished security vote immediately he was sworn into office as governor. He is a prudent and well detailed leader, with penchant for accountability and transparency. It is imperative to however state that our polity needs men like Badaru as, before appending signature to anything, it must be present in the budget. Such action is a real time progression in our political developments.
Badaru as Governor demonstrated focus and clear understanding of what good governance entails. Upon assumption of office, he decided to complete projects inherited from the previous administration. This is a significant development and policy strategy that deserves commendation. He realized that since these projects are important and relevant to the welfare of the people, completing them should be given a priority. Prioritization is Badaru’s major achievement. Nonetheless whilst he gave priority to the completion of abandoned projects, he also embarked on the execution of new ones which are no less important in the welfare of the people.
Muhammad Badaru Abubakar achieved for himself resounding and highly respectable personal credits and qualities, and his service to humanity in public and private life is remarkable and memorable.
He has been an international businessman long before he joined politics. In fact, his business acumen and successes were the propelling factors that friends, relatives and associates saw in him that made them encourage him to become a partisan politician.
Their thinking was that he could bring into governance of Jigawa State the same careful and meticulous financial discipline that he used to build and sustain his business empire.
Muhammad Badaru Abubakar MON, mni was born on the 29th day of September 1962 in Babura, the headquarters of Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State. From Babura Central Primary School in 1970, he proceeded to the famous Rumfa College Kano and completed in the year 1981 where he obtained General Certificate of Education. He went Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for his Advance Level and later got admitted into the University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy in 1985. He was employed into Kano State Civil Service as auditor with audit department of Ministry of Finance Kano State.
He established his own business with Talamiz Company. The company after years of work was developed in Talamiz Nigeria Limited. The company became successful and developed in many subsidiaries as a vast conglomerate with diverse interest in automobiles, manufacturing, agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as commodity distribution.
In the year 2006 Muhammad Badaru Abubakar went to the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.
He was the President, Jigawa state Chamber Of Commerce Industries Mines And Agriculture; President Nigeria Association Of Chambers Of Commerce, Industries, Mines And Agriculture (NACCIMA); president Nigeria – Niger chambers of commerce; President Northern States Chamber of Commerce; Chairman Board Of Trustees Northern States Chamber Of Commerce; and Chairman National Association of Road Transport Owners Jigawa State.
Alhaji Badaru Abubakar had equally been a member in various organizations and institutions that are mostly industrial which include Presidential Advisory Committee on Industrial Revolution Plan, Nigeria/America Chambers Of Commerce, Nigeria Institute Of Industrialist & Corporate Administration, Board Member Nigeria – Belgium Chambers Of Commerce, National Privatization Council, National Council on NSME and served as Member National Conference of 2014.
He once served as a Director with the Africa Merchant Bank Limited and Bank of the North Limited, now Unity Bank Plc, and the patron of the Rice Farmers Association, Kano and the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Jigawa state.
Apart from been a Member of the National Institute, mni, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru is a fellow of the Association of National Accountants Of Nigeria, FCNA, and a holder of the Member of the Order of the Niger, MON, conferred on him in 2006. During these past years Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar MON, mni attended various courses both within and outside the country.
Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar is a member of the National Council on Privatization, Federal Republic of Nigeria; The Second Vice President of the Federation of West Africa Chamber of Commerce (FEWACCI) which is the regional body of Chambers of Commerce in the West African region.
He served as an Auditor with the Audit Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Kano State, in 1987 and resigned in 1991 to establish his business outfit Talamiz Company.
Talamiz Company was later incorporated as Talamiz Nigeria Limited, which later gave birth to subsidiaries such as Talamiz Motors, Talamiz Consumer Company, Talamiz Transport, Talamiz Commodities, Talamiz Properties, Talamiz Poultry and Farms, and Talamiz Petroleum. Talamiz Oil Mill Limited, Socar Talamiz Limited, RMR Shipping Bv, AML Bonded Terminal, ALUAFRIC Cairo and a Director of Sahih Nigeria Limited.
Badaru Abubakar ran for election as the governor of Jigawa state on April 26, 2011 but lost to Sule Lamido of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
In April 2015, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, under the umbrella of All Progressive Congress (APC) again ran for the post of the governor of Jigawa state.
He won and was declared winner of the elections. He was sworn in on May 29, 2015.
Governor Badaru Abubakar is the Chairman, Presidential Committee on Fertilizer and also the Chairman, Presidential Committee on Non oil Revenue. He chaired the National Election Convention Committee of the APC and was the Chairman Election Committee of the APC.
He is a ministerial nominee by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
