Former governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje who emerged as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC on Thursday says he will not hesitate to ensure the victory of the party in the November 11, 2023 governorship polls in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa.
Ganduje made this known during his acceptance speech after his emergence at the 12th APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
The APC NEC also elected former Senate spokesman, Ajibola Basiru, from Osun State as its National Secretary.
The new party Chairman thanked President Bola Tinubu and promised that internal democracy would prevail in the party during his tenure.
He pledged amongst others,to ensure a scientific register of party members and pay priority attention to election management and conflict resolution while also assuring that there would be a level playing field for all party members during party primaries.
. The emergence of Ganduje and Basiru followed the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore on 17 July ,2023.after about one year and five months in office.
The APC and other parties are battle ready to swing votes to their direction in the November 11 gubernatorial elections in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi state.
In Imo, the incumbent, Senator Hope Uzodinma is seeking a second term in office although his critics’and opposition party elements say otherwise. The main opposition parties the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the Labour party LP are vowing to spring a surprise that would earn them the coveted seat in the state.
In Kogi state, the Former Auditor -General of Local Government in the state, Usman Ododo, who critics say is the third term package of Governor Yahaya Bello is flying the party’s flag and appeared set for the election coming in three months.
The party in Bayelsa,fielded former Minister of state for Petroleum and one term governor Timipre Sylva as flag bearer. Sylva served as governor from 27th May 2008 to 27th January 2012
