The World Athletics says Nigerian Athlete and current World Women’s 100 metres hurdles Champion and record holder, Tobi Amusan has not been cleared to defend her title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary next week.
The clarification comes as the Athletics Federation of Nigeria AFN listed Amusan as one of the Athletes that would be participating in the championship following the conditional listing of Amusan for Budapest by the World Athletics which is based on clearance by the Athletics Integrity Unit AIU.
But the World Athletics body In a statement on Sunday issued by Nicole Jeffery , the Head of Communications said it had not cleared Amusan for the competition.
It said:
“Please be advised – reports that say Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete in Budapest are wrong,”
“No decision has been made in this case yet. When a decision is made, it will be announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit.”
