Christians in Orashi Region in Rivers State have been called to support the Bible Society of Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Society, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, made the call while presenting Special Member Certificate to the Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Ahoada, the Right Reverend Clement Nathan Ekpeye DSSRS and his wife, Edna during the First Session of the Seventh Synod at the Holy Trinity Church, Abua Central in Abua/Odual Local Government Area.
Ayo-Tamuno explained, “is grossly unacceptable that a Christian dominated area that is made up of four local government areas, namely Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua Odual and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni having less than four special membership”.
He, therefore, appealed to delegates at the Synod to be in the front seat of registering as special members of the Society.
The Chairman, however, commended Bishop Ekpeye who had always supported the Society any time the Area had meetings at the Cathedral and other Anglican Churches in Ahoada and Omoku.
Also speaking, the Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Izon, the Right Reverend Funkoro G. V. Amgbara who presented the Special Member Certificate to Bishop Ekpeye and his wife, Edna stressed the need for Christians to embrace the Society to make the Bible available to the Christian Community.
Receiving the Certificate, Bishop Ekpeye thanked the Society for the honour accorded him and his wife and promised to support the Society at all times.
