Cameroon’s President,Paul Biya 90, on Wednesday afternoon replaced Military Chiefs in the Army, Navy, Airforce and Police with a decree to terminate some soldiers and move others from the country’s defence department.
On his part, the Rwandan president, Paul Kagame 65,,has retired 83 senior officers and over 700 others including non commissioned officers, junior officers, and contract officers.
Biya has served as the president of Cameroon since November 1982 after serving as Prime Minister from 1975-1982.
Kagame, the previous commander of the rebel force that ended the 1994 genocide, He served as Vice President and Minister of Defence from 1994-2000 and took office as president in 2000 when his predecessor, Pasteur Bizimungu resigned.
In the same vein, the Nigerian Army has warned soldiers against any form of disloyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who doubles as the Commander – in Chief of the Armed Forces.
The General Officer Commanding the 81 Division, Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman gave the warning on Wednesday while addressing soldiers at the 35 Artillery Brigade,Alamala, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
He said those who cannot be subordinated to the President and other superior officers down the ladder should make their intentions known by leaving the service
While acknowledging that there are challenges , Usman said that those challenges were not peculiar to the Brigade command assuring that efforts are underway to surmount the challenges.
