The Ijebu East Local Government Council Legislature in Ogun state has suspended the Chairman, Wale Adedayo for three months over allegations of impropriety in the handling of the council finances
current matters reports that seven out of the eleven councilors of the local government legislature signed the suspension letter.
Adedayo has also been summoned by the council legislature to appear before members to defend various allegations levelled against him at its next sitting on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Some of the allegations include withdrawal of N4 million from the local account for non -existing empowerment in 2022 and waste of N2 million on Isese Day on August 20, 2022.
The development comes a few days after the chairmen of the Local Government Councils paid a visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun to tender their apologies after Adedayo, who is one of them allegedly accused the governor of diverting their monthly allocation for 2 years.
Adedayo who was part of the apology visit to the governor had earlier claimed that mobile policemen invaded the Ogbere Community, housing the local government Headquarters in a bid to get him out of office. .
He said he and others took an oath” with our fathers”to make the land better than we met it” adding ” You can kill the body, but not the spirit of Wale Adedayo.
“Invading the peaceful Ogbere community with mobile policemen in order to impeach Wale Adedayo is desperation,” he said.
“As I told the SSG yesterday, we took an oath with our fathers that we’ll make this land better than we met it. You can kill the body, but not the spirit of Wale Adedayo.”
