Police cadet and son of a distinguished senator,A.S Jika has passed on in the Police Academy clinic,Wudil in Kano state.
Jika, a 100 level student in the Department of Sociology was said to be receiving treatment for malaria in the police clinic when he died on Saturday as a result of alleged negligence and lack of essential equipment to provide the needed care.
His father, Alhaji Haliru Jika, represented Bauchi state in the 9th Senate and was former chairman of the House of Representatives’ committee on police.
current matters gathered that Jika’s sudden death could have been prevented if the staff at the clinic had taken swift action in the treatment of the sick student.
“Malaria is a life threatening disease caused by a parasite and transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes”,( WHO ) it requires medical diagnosis and severe cases need emergency care.
