The Junta in Niger Republic have announced the reopening of the country’s airspace to all commercial flights.
This is coming nearly one month after it was closed down
Spokesperson of the ministry said on Monday that the airspace was reopened after consultations with the relevant authorities.
The Junta had on August 6,closed the airspace following threats of military action by the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS.
On ousting President Mohamed Bazoum for fear of a possible military action by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The junta has promised to hold elections soon.
On Wednesday July 26, soldiers toppled the government of Mohammed Bazoum giving the deteriorating security situation of the country as reason.
Worried by the resurgence of coups in the sub region, ECOWAS imposed sanctions on Niger and threatened to let its military on the coupists if talks on restoring democracy in the country failed..
Last week, leaders of the Economic bloc said they do not want war on Niger and gave the junta a 9 months transition timeframe.
