Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has approved the release of N2billion and 30 buses for workers to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy
Zulum made this known during a meeting with officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC in Maiduguri on Tuesday.
The governor also directed the Ministry of Finance to implement outstanding promotion benefits to workers.
“Borno government has approved the release of N2 billion to the state chapter of NLC as loan to state civil servants.
“Furthermore, we have approved the release of 30 buses, mainly to convey civil servants to their respective places of work within Maiduguri and environs, ”
,He added “In response to their request, the government has also directed the Ministry of Finance to ensure the implementation of promotion benefits to all those promoted between 2016 and April 2022.”
The governor also announced an increase of the N100million monthly release to the Office of the Head of Service for the settlement of the backlog of gratuity to N200 million
Zulum commended the understanding shown to his administration and promised to continue to do his best for workers and other citizens.
In his response,the state NLC chairman, Yusuf Inuwa, described the meeting with the governor as fruitful saying the governor met five out of nine demands that the union tabled before him.

According to him, the approvals from the governor also included allocation of government houses to workers.
The Labour leader said from the N2billion loan, the sum of N1.5billion would go to the workers in the state while workers at the local government areas would have the remaining N500 million .
