Airpeace has announced the acquisition of 10 new Embraer E1 75 Airplanes for Nigeria.
Alen Onyema, Chief Executive Officer of Airpeace, made this known at the ongoing Aviation Africa 2023 summit in Abuja.
Briefing newsmen,Onyema said ” We just signed a further order of 10 Embraer E175
” The Hon Minister has just scored his first within just a month of being appointed in office
” The Hon Minister called me two weeks ago and said going forward, any Nigerian Airline that wants to bring in brand new planes must also think of maintenance capabilities for those planes in-house and within Nigeria.
“And he made it compulsory that if you are going into acquisition of more than 20 planes or thereabouts, you must show evidence that the original equipment manufacturer is also going to support the setting up of a maintenance centre.here in Nigeria for the local maintenance of such planes and for third parties too ( MRO). which is enabling also because of the amount of billions we export outside the country in doing maintenance.
” When he said it,I thought it was something that cannot be done but he that would be done, and we moved in and part of the agreement we signed today is that Embryo is going to support the setting up of maintenance capability.in Nigeria”
The Embraer Management said the transaction is $300m and that delivery will begin in 2024.
