The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC, Felix Morka has slammed Philip Shaibu,a media aide to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar for listing what he claimed were 10 Big Lies of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Shaibu’s Big Lies list includes Fuel Subsidy,UAE Visa Ban, NASDAQ Bell Ringing, Meeting with President Biden and Exchange Rate.
Others are Airstrike In Niger State,$10Billion Fx Injection, Inclusive Government,NNPC Loan and Student Loan Act.
Shuaibu alleged that the Federal Government still subsidised petrol given that the pump price of petrol remains unchanged despite rise in the price of diesel and oil prices and the Naira exchanging to the Dollar at N1000.
He also alleged that” the government falsely claimed that the United Arab Emirates UAE had lifted the visa ban on Nigerians which later turned out to be untrue”
But Speaking on Arise News program on Tuesday afternoon, the APC spokeswoman dismissed Shaibu’s statement saying it is unjustifiable and irresponsible.
Morka said that the statement of Shaibu showed that he is still convalescing from the defeat of his principal, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the February 25 presidential election.
Morka stated that Tinubu’s administration had not gone back on its position of ending the fuel subsidy regime contrary to Shaibu’s claim. He however assured that the government is working tirelessly to assuage the pains of Nigerians.
On the UAE Visa Ban, Morka said that there was no falsehood in the government statement of visa unbanning as he stated that” What the UAE did was a normal step in diplomatic engagements”
According to him, diplomatic engagements are done through a process
When asked about Shaibu’s claim of nepotism as opposed to the promise of Inclusive Government, Morka clarified ” Government not engaged in nepotism” he said that the appointments are based on merit and not on clan basis.
He cited an instance of merit where a former President of the United States, John F Kennedy who after winning election in 1960 appointed his younger brother,Robert as US Attorney General
The APC spokesman said” it is too early to make unjustifiable comments” adding that more appointments are coming that would take care of more groups’ interest.
