The Nobel Prize Committee has announced Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman as winners of the 2023 Prize for Medicine for their work on mNRA vaccines which were crucial in curtailing the spread of Covid-19
The scientists had published their results in a 2005 paper that laid the foundation for the curtailment of Covid -19.
In a statement,the Committee lauded Kariko and Weissman for their “ground breaking findings” which” fundamentally changed our understanding of how mRNA interacts with our immune system “
