The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen.Dr.Ipalibo Harry Banigo DSSRS says despite the huge contributions to Nation building , the Nigerian Rural Women have continued to suffer abysmal neglect , Poverty, poor remuneration and social disequilibrium .
Sen.Banigo made this known today in a statement commemorating the International Day of Rural Women, celebrated yearly on the 15th of October, 2023 .
The former Deputy Governor of Rivers State who acknowledged and extolled the virtues and remarkable roles of the Nigerian Rural Women in societal growth ; describes the Rural Women as hard working , courageous and Agents of Change .
She noted that the bulk of Subsistent farmers and Petty Traders are Grassroot Women, who toil daily to eke a living that are used to cater for the education of their children and family needs .
This, she posited , underscores the significance and pivotal roles Rural Women play ” in preserving our Cultural, Social and Economic landscape “.
The Rivers West Senatorial District Representative lauded the enduring strength and exceptional qualities of the Rural Women which serve as a source of great inspiration and survival in the face the current daunting economy experience in the Country. “.
Senator Banigo noted that the theme of the International Rural Women Day Celebration: DigitALL : Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality is a bold step for Rural Women to break mental barriers and embrace a new Brain Wave that seeks to improve their innate potentials .
